Subedar Man Bahadur Rai of 1/10 GR was awarded IDSM while fighting against the Japnese in Chin Hills in 1943. He was awarded MC (military cron)on 9 Jan 1945 at Bishenpur area in the attack on a strongly held Japnese bunker position. He was awarded Ashok Chakra for his gallant act of bravery in Nagaland on 3 May 1961.
 
After a tough trek, Captain Man Bahadur Rai reached the objective only to discover that the  insurgents were firmly entrenched at  a vantage oint.
