CAPTAIN UMMED SINGH MAHRA – ASHOK CHAKRA AWARDEE
 
19 Battalion Rajputana Rifles Captain Ummed Singh Mahra gathered information about the Naga Hostiles and accompanied the column being sent to raid the hostile camp. Captain Ummed Singh Mahra Led a charge on a hostile camp. Though injured badly, he encouraged his men to charge on the hostile camp. For this display of conspicuous gallantry and leadership of a very high order he was awarded ‘ Ashok Chakra’ Posthumously.
